Visa support

Foreign citizens arriving to Russia or leaving it, with some exceptions, must have a valid Russian visa. A visa is permission to enter/leave Russia, to stay in the country and to transit through its territory. It is not possible to obtain a visa at the airport, when entering the Russian Federation. Russian Visa can be obtained at Russian consulate or embassy in the country of your residence.

The procedure for obtaining a Russian visa consists of several steps, some of these may require time . 

 

But there is a list of countries with which international agreements on visa-free entry into Russia operate. As a rule, visa-free visits are limited in time - from one month to 90 days.

 

Below is a list of countries whose citizens, when visiting the Russian Federation, do not need to apply for a visa:

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Hong Kong

14 days for non-commercial purposes

Abkhazia

Period of stay not more than 90 days.

Armenia

Period of stay not more than 90 days.

Azerbaijan

Period of stay not more than 90 days.

Belarus

Unlimited stay.

Bolivia

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

For tourists the period of stay should not exceed 30 days within each 60, for any other purposes not more than 90 days; documents confirming the purpose of visit required.

Brazil

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Brunei Darussalam

Period of stay not more than 14 days for non-commercial purposes (not for employment or study).

Chile

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Colombia

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Costa Rica

Period of stay not more than 90 days (not for holders of diplomatic and service passports).

Cuba

Up to 30 days.

Ecuador

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Fiji

Period of stay not more than 90 days.

Grenada

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Guatemala

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Guyana

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Honduras

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Israel

Period of stay is not more than 90 days within each 180. There is an agreement between Russia and Israel on abolition of guest and tourist visas. For trips the passport valid not less than 6 months from the date of entrance is required. Presence of any other documents is not provided by the Agreement.

Kazakhstan

Period of stay not more than 90 days. Allowed to enter on internal passports.

Korea, Republic of

Period of stay does not exceed 60 days per a trip and is not more than 90 days within six months.

Kyrgyzstan

Period of stay not more than 90 days. Allowed to enter on internal passports.

Laos

Period of stay not more than 30 days.

Macedonia

Period of stay not more than 90 days.

Mauritius

up to 60 days (no longer than 90 days within each period of 180 days)

Moldova, Republic of

Period of stay not more than 90 days.

Mongolia

Up to 30 days.

Montenegro

Up to 30 days.

Nauru

Up to 14 days.

Nicaragua

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Panama

Period of stay not more than 90 days.

Paraguay

Period of stay not more than 90 days.

Peru

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Saint Kitts and Nevis

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Samoa

Period of stay not more than 60 days for non-commercial purposes.

Serbia

Period of stay up to 30 days for holders of biometric passports issued after April 8, 2008.

Seychelles Islands

Period of stay not more than 30 days.

South Africa

Period of stay not more than 90 days.

South Ossetia

Unlimited stay.

Tajikistan

Allowed to enter on internal passports. Period of stay not more than 90 days.

Thailand

Up to 30 days.

Ukraine

Period of stay not more than 90 days. Allowed to enter on internal passports.

Uruguay

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Uzbekistan

Period of stay not more than 90 days.

Venezuela

Period of stay not more than 90 days within 180 for non-commercial purposes.

Optaining visa support

If you are required to obtain visa to enter Russia in your country, you can find the information on applying at the VFS Global website. Please select “Russia” in “Visiting Country” line and your country in “Applying from” line from the left side of the website.

Please, be aware that in accordance with Russian migration rules, the IMWA Conference's
participants need to hold the
HUMANITARIAN VISA.

Perm State University as your host organization will provide you with Visa Support (Written Statement from the host organization). This official visa invitation will be provided for all IMWA2019 participants and the accompany persons.


In order to initiate your Visa Support, you should send the following documents to visasupport@IMWA2019.info:

  1. Scanned copy of the first front page of your foreign passport. (The page with a clear photo and the passport details).

  2. Application form. (Download template)

Please, note that all official invitations to Russia are processed by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Federal Migration Service. Therefore, it takes some time for the Organizing Committee to generate the official invitation letter (from 14 up to 30 working days).
As soon as Visa Support invitation letter is issued, we will forward the document to every participant and the accompany person(s).
Then you can apply for HUMANITARIAN VISA to Russia at a Consular Department/Division of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in your country.

Please, note that the duration and the terms of visa application process might vary from country to country.


We highly recommend that all IMWA Conference participants start visa application process well in advance (before 01 February 2019).

For visa-free participants

In accordance with Russian law, every foreign visitor must be registered at the Migration service. 

Perm State University as your host organization will register you in FMS (Federal Migration Service) office. 


In order to register you , you should send the following documents to visasupport@IMWA2019.info:

  1. Scanned copy of the first front page of your foreign passport (the page with a clear photo and the passport details).

  2. Application form. (Download template)

Please, note that Local Organizing Committee have to handle these documents not later than 10 days before your arrival.
